While programs vary from school to school, below is a window into a KIPP NYC teacher’s day – a sample seventh grade math teacher’s schedule.
A typical teacher’s day runs from approximately 7:15am to 5:15pm. Teachers are available by cell phone to students, families and staff outside of school hours. Staff schedules build-in considerable time for collaboration and professional development by grade level and content teams, and on a school-wide and KIPP NYC-wide basis. Teachers are observed regularly in the classroom and receive feedback throughout the year.
